Flower Child is a tincture to help soothe the emotional heart. A sweet bouquet to bring a smile when times are tough. A floral echo of carefree spring mornings gone by. Flower power to help your heart bloom again.

This herbal tincture is all about soothing both the physical and the emotional heart. About using the ethereal powers of blooms to heal and lighten the emotional heart when it feels weighed down by grief, loss and heavy emotions.  As the botanist Luther Burbank once said  “Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul”  He was right.

Linden - The beautiful linden is a large and comforting tree with honey scented fragrant blossoms. A soothing flower which calms when restlessness, tension and nervousness are unwanted acquaintances.   As a heart medicine, linden is indicated when sadness and nerves cause palpitations and tightness in the chest.  Like its floral friend chamomile, linden also calms and soothes a gut that is affected by negative feelings.

Hawthorn - A beautiful shrubby tree, likely to be found in paddocks throughout our fine country.  Hawthorn has beautiful white blooms in late spring which transition into berries as autumn makes its present felt. Hawthorn is the very best remedy for both the physical and the emotional heart. From a physical perspective, hawthorn protects and strengthens the heart and its vessels and normalises its natural rhythms. From an emotional perspective, hawthorn helps to heal and ease emotional heart aches and its relaxing actions help the heart to stay open when its been hurt.

Rose - Oh rose, a beautiful heart opening herb which is fragrant and beautiful. A heart chakra tonic, a herb to enhance understanding of others, to promote empathy, love and connection Rose can metaphorically open the heart and lift the spirit; supporting those experiencing grief and sadness and helping the heart to turn towards joy and new beginnings. As a thorny plant, rose also reminds us to open our hearts but also to maintain our boundaries.

Mimosa - Known as The Happiness Tree, mimosa has been used in Chinese medicine for 2000 years. Mimosa flowers have a beautiful silky appearance and a very sweet and beautiful scent.  Traditionally used to calm and lighten the spirit, relieving emotional heaviness associated with mood swings, sadness, and irritability.  Mimosa helps people to remember what joy feels like after profound loss, grief, and heart break.

Hibiscus - Hibiscus is sour and cooling and has a strengthening effect on the physical heart and the blood vessels. On an emotional level, hibiscus calms the nerves and helps cool hot headedness, encourages patience, joy  and emotional resilience.

This tincture is handmade from scratch by me using mimosa flowers foraged from the North Island of New Zealand alongside organic herbs. It harnesses the full solar and lunar light of a full month and is made in the old way. The old way honours the herbs and the relationships that a herbalist has with them. The daily shaking of jars, the straining, the love and thought that goes into each and every bottle. This is the way of the past and definitely the way to the lightness of the future that I want to see.
