Blue Skies is a tincture to help you see the light. To see the lightness in life. The sun through the clouds. The lightness at the end of the tunnel. Its for creating some light in your life that is enduring and easy.

I created Blue Skies over many many moons. Experimenting with many different herbs but finally came to these six beautiful herbs. From Chinese, Ayurveda and Mexican medicine, they are all highly prized for their ability to create lightness of spirit and to build the structure upon which happiness settles.

Damiana - A Mexican beauty and highly prized as the happiness herb. Damiana finds its way into many of my teas and tinctures. It has at once a relaxing action on the mind, allowing tension to float away while stimulating the pleasure centres of the nervous system and body. It grows in very hot and dry environments and loves the feeling of sun on its leaves. Damiana is one of those herbs that just makes everything seem okay.

Bacopa - An Ayurvedic herb - bacopa is used extensively for sharpening the mind and expanding spiritual practices in people of all ages It has a positive action on memory and mood and has a particular affinity for those people for whom nervousness is an issue or those who cannot see the light from under the mountain of stress they are under.

Schisandra - From traditional Chinese medicine schisandra is one of the most highly prized traditional herbs. It has an innate ability to help us deal with stress by regulating a cascade of hormones and supporting the adrenals when they are under pressure'. In a similar way to damiana, schisandra supports calm focus while also awakening, energizing and lightening the body and spirit.

Jiaogulan - This may be a herb you have not heard of before but it is a winner. A true adaptogen, jiaogulan is a sweet nourishing herb which supports against the ills of stress and modernity. It is strongly rejuvenating adaptogenic tonic which enhances energy, resilience, libido, concentration and cognitive acuity. It is truly amphoteric or bidirectional - energizing those who are exhausted and calming those for whom nervousness is a constant companion. It truly is a lightness of being herb.

Reishi - The great herb of immortality, reishi gives a calming, lightness of spirit to all who use her medicine. An adaptogen and happiness fungi, reishi is highly antioxidant, and a beautiful and gentle liver and cognitive tonic. The most beautiful attribute of reishi is its ability to help us shine a light on the things that no longer serve us - leaving new space for new experiences and feelings.

Goji - The perfect companion to schisandra, this Chinese berry medicine is highly antioxidant and sweet, nurturing the parts of you that need a little light and sweetness. Like a hot cup of sweet tea for your spirit.

This tincture is handmade from scratch by me. It harnesses the full solar and lunar light of a full month and is made in the old way. The old way honours the herbs and the relationships that a herbalist has with them. The daily shaking of jars, the straining, the love and thought that goes into each and every bottle. This is the way of the past and definitely the way to the lightness of the future that I want to see.
